AIFF to Bid Club World Cup 2015!

Less than a week after bidding for the under-17 World Cup, the All India Football Federation is planning to stake claim to host yet another multi-million dollars tournament – World Club Cup in 2015.

Held under the aegis of Fifa, the World Club Cup is a cash rich tournament with prize money of $16 million, in which the winners take away $5 million. Champion clubs of six continents and the host nation take part in the seven-team tournament spread over two weeks.

“Encouraged by Fifa, we have decided to bid for the World Club Cup in 2015,” AIFF general secretary Kushal Das told . “We have already written to Fifa requesting them to let us know the details of the bidding process,” he said.

Sources said the AIFF president Praful Patel was advised by Fifa president Sepp Blatter to bid for the World Club Cup. Blatter also hinted that India’s bid for the 2017 Under 17 World Cup would be considered seriously.
