Title contenders Sporting Clube de Goa will look to get their campaign back on track when they take on Mumbai FC in the Aiff’s I-League at PJN Stadium, Fatorda, on Saturday. The kick off is 5pm and is being televised live on Ten Action.
After finishing the first phase of the I-League on a high, positioned in 2nd place and with a game in hand, Sporting Goa has since only picked up a point from their past three encounters, but Spanish Coach Oscar Bruzon is very confident. “We will be changing our game model slightly, by moving our defensive line and also alter how our wingers operate,” remarked Oscar.
Oscar was pleased with the way the team responded to the training this week and also disclosed he would be making a couple of changes to strengthen the starting lineup.
“We treated this week like it was our pre-season and there were a few players who have worked extremely hard to merit themselves a place in the first eleven,” disclosed Oscar.
Sporting Goa are currently placed fourth with 28 points from seventeen matches and a win would see them leapfrog over Salgaocar and Pune who both has 30 points from eighteen games.
Mumbai are currently tenth in the standings with 19 points from eighteen games and will be desperately looking for a win to avoid falling into the relegation dogfight.
When the two clubs met on the opening day of the season, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
