The second leg of the Mahindra 2 Wheelers Mizoram Premier League (MPL) final was played Friday night at AR Lammual between Luangmual FC and Chanmari FC. Chanmari FC came out on top with a 3-0 win on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.
Chanmari FC had a great season, winning the MFA Super Cup, Independence Day Football Tournament, MFA Cup and now they are the champions of the Mizoram Premier League II. They have created a new record by winning all these trophies.
Chanmari FC R.Malsawmtluanga, H.Lalmuankima and Jerry Mawihmingthanga scored a goal each on the night while two Luangmual FC players were given the marching order in the second half. The match had to be halted by the referee for a while by the end of the match as Luangmual FC fans started to throw bottles and other stuffs into the ground.

Luangmual FC had the advantage going into the second leg as they won the first leg by 2-1and it was arguably one of the best performances of the season by Luangmual FC. They are known for their team work and they usually manage to score goals against any opponents.
Chanmari FC Head Coach Thlanga said, “We will go out and try to win the match by 2-0”. Chanmari FC have enough quality to make a comeback and their ambition to play the I-league next season will be massively boosted if they managed to win this tie.
The match started with a great atmosphere and the ground was fully packed by the crowd who expect nothing but entertainment. At just 4 minutes C.Lalrosanga had the chance to put Chanmari FC ahead and Luangmual FC replied immediately with Captain B.Malsawmzuala who missed a very good opportunity.
Chanmari FC were slightly dominant and were given a penalty when attacking minded right back Lalrinsanga was brought down in the penalty area. The right back had also won a penalty in the dying minutes in the first leg. R.Malsawmtluanga stepped up to take the penalty at 37 minutes and struck the ball with perfection into the left corner of the goal giving no chance to the goal keeper who was wrong footed. Chanmari FC fans were on the feet singing and shouting! It was 1-0 at half time.
The second half brought much hope for both the teams as the aggregate score was 2-2. If the score is tied, the match will go straight to tie-breakers as extra time will not be played. Chanmari FC created many chances from the side and their crossing created havoc among the Luangmual FC defenders. But Fela and Jerry could not find the back of the net.
At 52 minutes Chanmari FC winger Fela crossed the ball which found the unmark left winger Mka who made no mistake with his effort to give his team the lead on aggregate! Luangmual FC were slow to recover after conceding the second goal and Chanmari FC scored another goal as promising youngster Jerry Mawihmingthanga scored a wonderful goal which was down to the hard working Dawngtea.
Luangmual FC players were protesting about a handball leading up to the third goal but two of their players - Lalnunpuia and Captain B.Malsawmzuala were sent off by the referee. The enthusiasm of Luangmual FC players after being reduced to nine men was enough to hold Chanmari FC who won the match and the league with 3 goals on the night.
