Karim Bencherifa left for Singapore yesterday evening on a 10-day leave. Before leaving, he did prepare the training schedule for this interim period, in which there will be off for around 4 days because of Christmas and New Year. Assistant Coach Mridul Banerjee, Goalkeeper Coach Arpan Dey and Physio Soumya Bhattacharjee will be following this schedule, as Mariners starts preparation for the Kalighat MS game from 26th December onwards.
Karim said, "I want to make it clear that I am taking this leave for personal reasons. My family has shifted to Singapore a couple of months back mainly because of my son's schooling and some paperwork needs to be done for which I have to be there for around 10 days. With tight schedule in the next 4 months, I will not get any more time to leave Kolkata and since this is the only period in which there will be less training because of the Christmas and New Year with team playing just 1 Calcutta Football League game, I thought this is the perfect time for me to go to Singapore and accordingly I had taken leave. In fact, I have applied for this leave long back which was sanctioned by the Directors few weeks back."
Mariners will play their remaining 3 games of the Calcutta Football League Premier Division before the start of the Federation Cup.
The schedule of the remaining games of McDowell's Mohun Bagan are as follows:
McDowell's Mohun Bagan vs Kalighat MS (December 28, 2013, Salt Lake Stadium)
McDowell's Mohun Bagan vs Mohammedan Sporting (January 4, 2013, Salt Lake Stadium)
McDowell's Mohun Bagan vs Kingfisher East Bengal (January 11, 2013, Salt Lake Stadium)
