Tollygunge Agragami Gets 10 crore Sponsorship!

The major film producers in Tollywood, Venkatesh Films will be sponsoring the Tollygunge Agragami football club and announced  Rs 10 crore (100 million) a sponsorship deal with 7 times National League Playing club for next season.

Tollygunge Agragami, which was founded in 1943 as Russa Agragami Samity, then later renamed to Tollygunge Agragami in 1955 will will be renamed as Venkatesh Tollygunge Agragami from next season onward

Tollygunge won the 1997/98 2nd Division National Football League then in the year 1999 McDowell's Cup and in 2003 they won Libero One Day Cup. In National football League 1st Division, Tollygunge Agragami last played in 2003-2004 season and relegated.

Tollygunge once produced some famous names like Amar Deb, Manas Das, Amitava Chanda, Mehtab Hussein, Sasthi Dulay, Jayanta Sen, Akeem Abul, Ashim Biswas, Isiaka Awoyemi, Debkumar Sashmal, Gopal Das, Shibram Dey and many more current football stars in Kolkata Football.

They have booked a berth for next season's CFL Premier Division.Reputed to be giant-killers especially in the late 90s,Tollygunge emerged First Division winners this year that earned them promotion

Coach Raghu Nandy gives credit to team effort for the success."We did not depend on any individual.It's team effort that helped us become first division champions.

"However,we are up for a bigger task now that we'll be playing in the Premier Division.We must make sure that we get ourselves on a par with EB and MB.In fact,our target will be to beat the 'Big Two' and re-establish ourselves as a force to reckon with in Culcutta" he concluded.
