Do you need a footballer to hype sales of soccer gear?
Well, in India, yes. Two days ago, former Indian skippers Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly ushered in the FIFA World Cup trophy from Kathmandu to Kolkata even as the organisers kept away all footballers from the dias.
Now, it is the turn of German sportsgear giant Adidas to get into the groove.
According to Adidas India head Tushar Goculdas, swashbuckling Indian batsmen Virat Kohli, an Adidas brand ambassador, has been designated to to judge India's ultimate football fans for the 2014 Brazil World Cup.
He has to select six passionate, young fans, part of the FIFA Fairplay Flagbearers for a game at Rio next year.
"Cricket sells in India, we were clear with our choice," Goculdas told
