Indian National Football Club defied the odds of being a newly-promoted team in the Delhi Soccer Association's (DSA) annual senior division league by beating in-form Hindustan FC 2-1 to emerge as the champions of the league at the Ambedkar stadium here on Monday.
Playing their last match, Indian National needed a win to pip defending champions Garhwal Heroes who were sitting pretty with 16 points. Indian National finished with 17 points and thus Garhwal Heroes had to be satisfied with the runners-up title.
Hindustan FC finished with 13 points for the third place as Tarun Sangha settled for fourth place with nine points. L Thara helped Indian National take early lead in the third minute of the game.Ajay Bartwal of Hindustan equalized and Vikram scored the winning goal for National.
