All India Football Federation will present the ‘Indian Football Awards’ at a glittering Function at the Federation House, FICCI, in New Delhi on Thursday (February 13) evening. Seven Awards will be presented in seven different categories to the winners who range from Administrators to Supervisors and Players.
Five among the seven Awards have being instituted for the first-time while the other one is being re-instituted after 2001. This will be the first-time the Awards would be presented on a common platform in an annual function.
The categories for new Awards include the 2013 AIFF Award for the Best Assistant Referee; 2013 AIFF Award for the Best Referee; 2013 Award for the Best Emerging Player of the Year; Award for Best Grassroots Development Programme and Award for Continous Contribution to Indian Football.
Along with it, the 2013 Award for the Best Woman Player of the Year is being re-instituted while the other one stays the 2013 Award for the AIFF Player of the Year where the winner was unanimously voted by all Club Coaches from the Airtel I-League.
The recipients of the Awards stay as follows:
Award for Best Grassroots Development Programme: Mizoram Football Association.
Award for long-time contribution to Indian Football: Tata Football Academy
2013 AIFF Award for the Best Assistant Referee: Biplab Poddar.
2013 AIFF Award for the Best Referee: Pratap Singh
2013 AIFF Award for Emerging Player of the Year: Jeje Lalpekhlua
2013 AIFF Award Best Woman Player of the Year: Oinam Bembem Devi
2013 AIFF Award for Player of the Year: Sunil Chhetri
