Four goals by Bekay Bawar enabled Royal Wahingdoh a fashionable 8-0 win against MP United in their I-League 2 match on Saturday at the Railway Stadium in Dhanbad.
Despite playing out the first half goalless, the Royals made a remarkable comeback in the second half under wet conditions during which Bekay Bawar, supported by his team mates, dished out four goals to leave MP United helpless.
The Liberian attacking midfielder cleared the keeper early in the latter half to give Wahingdoh a crucial lead before Seityasen Singh doubled it up with a goal a few minutes later. Midfielder Nabachandra then provided the third goal before Bekay came back to add three more in a row, thus, completing his hat trick in the process.
Just as the onslaught seemed to be over, Jacki carried his form with a shot into the corner of the nets while Sena finished the match off with a late strike.
Royal Wahingdoh now have 8 points from four matches and are leading the table by goal difference. Kalighat MS also have 8 points with a six-goal difference to Wahingdoh.
The Royals’ last match will be played on February 17 against PIFA at 9:30 am in what will be a crucial encounter.
