One of the best foreigner ever played in India,Roberto Mendes da Silva known simply as Beto on Friday clearly admitted that he wants to finish his career in Goa.He does not intend to play for any outstation club so that he can end his career in Goa.
"Goa is like my second home.I love Goa and people here.I would surely like to finish my career in Goa," said the Dempo sc player during a press briefing of Sunday's Goa marathon event of which he will be one of the star attraction.
"When i was in my peak form I did receive great offers from many clubs from across the country, most of which were from Kolkata based clubs. But I did not take them as I felt when it comes to football there could be no better place than Goa" said the player who has been on the Goan football arena for the last ten years or so.
His team Dempo sc is now no where near to I-League title contention and currently placed in 10th position with 16 point from 15 match.
On the query about his team's chance in the ongoing I-League he said "Honestly speaking with the position we are currently placed,we hardly have any chance of bringing back the I-League glory but nevertheless we will try our best and give our best performance in the remaining matches"
"Right now we are focussed on our match against Rangdajied to be played at Tilak Maidan on february 15,and after that we will take it game by game,"he said
Beto, who played for churchill last season before joining Dempo again this season, said that he never faced any kind of pressure while playing any of the team as he always thought he was not playing against rivals but friends.
When asked as a football what attracted him to be a part of Goa Marathon ,he said that being a sports lover would be ready to participate in any sporting event held to help the poor and needy people.
Beto said he would be taking part in 5km run and about 10-11 boys from his academy Brazil Football Academy will also join him in the run.
Beto has appealed the Goans to come in large numbers and join the marathon to make it successful
