Royal Wahingdoh ended the first leg of the I-League II 2014 final phase in Silchar with a 1-1 draw against Kalighat on Monday after the Bengal side produced a 70th minute penalty through James Gbilee to level scores.
Wahingdoh opened the scoring in the 21st minute after Reagan Singh collected a Jackichand pass, only to send a 30-yard scorcher for a vital lead. The Royals were unlucky as they came close to scoring on a few occasions but were denied what could have eventually been a match-winning goal. The 70th minute then earned Kalighat a penalty which was converted by James Gbilee before both sides finished at 1-1 by the end of regulation time.
The result leaves Wahingdoh at 6 points from 4 matches and the team will now travel to Aizawl for the second leg.
