Mizoram Premier League Round 11 Review

After the Round 11 of the Mahnindra 2 Wheelers Mizoram Premier League Season 2, the results are interesting and the matches are exciting. All the eight teams have three matches each to play and the result of the remaining matches will eventually decide who would be relegated and who would play the final.

Who will play the final?

Chanmari FC hammered FC Kulikawn and they need a point each from their remaining matches with Reitlang FC, Aizawl FC and Dinthar FC. They can slip up but Chanmari FC are the firm favorites to reach the final. And the interesting thing is who will be there at the final to face the team that won a maximum 12 points from their last four matches. Dinthar FC won the important Round 11 match against Mizoram Police FC and Ramfangzauva's goal can prove a vital one for this campaign. Luangmual FC's win against Reitlang FC in the Round 11 brought them back on track to play the final this season. Mizoram Police FC fell short and they were beaten by their title rival Dinthar FC but mathematically, the Police have hope of reaching the final too.

Who will be relegated?

FC Kulikawnin failed to win any points in the Phase 2 and being hammered by Chanmari FC in the Round 11 can see one of the oldest local clubs FC Kulikawn to relagation from the MPL but a win against Luangmual FC, Mizoram Police FC and Aizawl FC and depending on the negative results of Reitlang FC could see them give a fighting chance through the relegation playoff. And it is a slim chance indeed.

Reitlang FC maintained their fine form to get out from the bottom even though they lost the Round 11match against Luangmual FC. They are yet to face a tough battle with the likes of Chanmari FC and Dinthar FC in their next fixtures. Even if they fail to get any points out of these two matches, a win in their last match against Chanmari West FC will see them avoid the playoff.

Aizawl FC and Chanmari West FC played out a draw in the Round 11 and this result gave the two teams a chance to go through the relegation playoff. The interesting part is when the title contenders face the teams from the relegation zones and a lot can change after the Round 12 too.

Goals in MPL Season 2

In this season 121 goals have been scored so far with an average of 2.75 goals pergame. In the MPL Season 1, 150 goals were scored with an average of 2.68 goals per game. After the Round 11 of the season 1, 111 goals were scored with an average of 2.52 goals per game. MPL Season 2 have more goals and is undoubted more exciting than last season.

In the second season, we witnessed the success of the MPL Under 17 as Chanmari West FC forward Vanlalbiaa and Chanmari FC forward Jerry Mawihmingthanga began to fulfill their potential. Jerry scored a goal each in three consecutive matches and is yet to score since Round 9 while Mabiaa scored 6 goals with the likes of Mizoram Police winger Lalbiakhlua and Dinthar FC winger R. Laldanmawia. These three players have 6 goals each to their name and all of them are wingers. The strikers do not score enough goals in this season and last season's MPL top scorer Chanmari forward MS Dawngliana had just a goal to his name. MPL best forward F. Lalrinpuia scored a brace in the first match and has so far suffered a goal drought .

Among the top scorers, MPL Season 2 debutants Luangmual FC forward Laldingngheta and Reitlang forward Cho Tsering Lepcha were the prominent ones. In the round 11 when Reitlang FC and Luangmual FC faced each other, Dingngheta came to the fore to score the important goals and even though Cho did not score in this match, he still managed to score 4 goals for the season so far.
