Aizawl FC continued their rather stuttering campaign this season as they drew with Chanmari West FC by 2-2 in the Mahindra 2 Wheelers Mizoram Premier League Round 11. Aizawl FC academy graduate who plays for Chanmari West FC as a winger Vanlalbiaa scored twice against the team that nurtured him to claim the man of the match.
Aizawl FC just managed three points in the Phase 2 and they continued to concede goals against Chanmari West FC Luangmual FC and Dinthar FC. Chanmari West FC defender Lalbeiseia scored an unlucky own goal while Malsawmfela scored a leading goal but Aizawl FC failed to protect that goal and their championship hope may well be diminished with this draw.
Aizawl FC captain Ricky Lallawmsanga and Michael Lalremruata could not turn up for the match due to illness while vice captain David Lalrinmuana and Nigerian defender Ugochukwu Emmanuel Chigozie came back for this match having missed out the previous match against Dinthar FC with Zothansanga and Johny Lalfakzuala who also gets to start this match.
Chanmari West FC just made one change from their match against Mizoram Police as Lalremruata was replaced by Lalremsanga.
Chanmari West FC started the match well as Aizawl FC conceded from the spot at just 10 minutes when Chanmari West FC captain Lalhmangaihzuala won a penalty for his team. Aizawl FC keeper C. Vanlalruata made two fine saves before the incident but could do nothing as Mabiaa stepped up to score the penalty.
Chanmari West continued to dominate the game but were not sharp enough in front of goal. They seem to lose their concentration by the end of the first half as they conceded two goals in two minutes. At 39 minutes a cross ball from vice captain David was turned into his goal by Beiseia and a minute later Zoramthara's cross was headed into the goal by Sawmfela to make it 2-1 to Aizawl FC at half time.
The game was not as exciting as the second half commenced and Aizawl FC created more chances for Sawmfela and substitute H. Lalnunzira but they could not find the back of the net. Chanmari West FC fought on to get the important goal and the match was absolutely exciting by the end. Scorer of the opening goal Mabiaa capitalized from the mistake made by Aizawl FC backline at 88 minutes to score the important goal for his team and for the delight of the Chanmari West FC fans.
Chanamari West FC player H. Lalrinliana was sent off at the end of the match and they almost get the winner as they went all out but substitute Arapa could not score the goal that would have given his team the maximum points. The match ended 2-2 after 90 minutes.
