Sporting Clube de Goa look to finish season on a high

Sporting Clube de Goa is highly motivated as they get set to take on newly crowned I-League Champions Bengaluru FC on the last day of the season, in the Aiff’s I-league at PJN Stadium, Fatorda on Monday. The kick off time is 5.30pm.

While most footballers are already planning their holiday vacations, there is still a lot left for the Flaming Oranje to focus on.

Sporting Goa head coach Oscar Bruzon believes there are many reasons why his men are highly motivated to achieve a win. The most important factor being that a victory would secure them a top four position.

“Our aim for the season was to finish in the top five and we are on target to achieving it,” stated Oscar.
Oscar also believes that by playing the I-League champions, his players can gauge for themselves how much progression they have made. “We are a team with big ambitions. By playing against the I-League champions, we can see where we currently stand and how we can improve in the future,” remarked Oscar.

This season the clubs have met twice, with the first I-League meeting ending in a goalless draw, but in the Federation Cup group stage Bengaluru defeated Sporting Goa 5-3 and Oscar believes that is another motivational factor. “This season we have not defeated Bengaluru. My players have a very competitive mind set and I know they will want to put that right,” reasoned Oscar.

Oscar’s biggest head ache will now be choosing his starting eleven for the final game as his whole squad is fired up to make a considerable contribution.

Champions Bengaluru are currently on 44 points from twenty three games, while Sporting Goa is currently fourth with 34 points from twenty three games.

The Aiff is set to present the I-League trophy to Bengaluru after the match, as the curtains come down on an exciting season. “We congratulate Bengaluru for showing consistency and winning the I-League. I hope this game will be memorable day for all the fans who witness it,” signed off Oscar.
