The Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association suspended the Uttar Pradesh Football Sangh (UPFS) and its secretary general Mohd Shamsuddin with immediate effect for allegedly ruining the career of woman footballers in particular.
UPOA’s secretary general Anandeshwar Pandey while announcing this , claimed that UPOA was bound to take such a step after the bosses of both the UP Football Sangh and the All India Football Federation failed to take an action against UPSF’s secretary general Mohd Shamsuddin, who was charged for sexual harassment and was subsequently arrested at Varanasi on April 20.
“UPOA has suspended the UPFS and its secretary from primary membership and now we are going to recommend the UP Sports Directorate to disaffiliate the UPSF from the list of its recognized sports bodies in the state,” Pandey said.
He, however, expressed disappointment over the mysterious silence of the UPFS bosses and the AIFF people. “The man (Shamsuddin) did send a fraud team to the nationals today, where as the genuine players were sent back home as they were protesting against him. And if this B team is accepted by the AIFF at the forthcoming nationals, it will expose their duel standard.”
“Even I talked to the AIFF secretary Kushal Das, but there was no one to initiate action against Shamsuddin. Sending a second grade team to the nationals is a big fraud to the genuine players and I demand the state directorate to lodge an FIR against the UPFS authorities, including Shamsuddin.”
