Former India U23 defender Rowilson Rodrigues has signed on a one year contract with Dempo Sports Club.
The 27 year old had spent two seasons with Dempo Sports Club earlier and was also a part of the I-League winning team in 2011-12. Rowilson is a product of the SESA Academy and stated his playing career with Churchill Brothers from 2006 till 2011. He later joined Mohun Bagan in 2013 after spending two seasons with Dempo Sports Club.
“I am happy to come back to Dempo Sports Club for the new season. This is the finest club I have ever been with and I am looking forward to play under the leadership of Arthur Papas” said Rowilson.
Commenting on Rowilson’s return, Dempo head coach Arthur Papas said “I am really glad to welcome Rowilson to Dempo for season 2014/15. He is someone we observed very closely throughout the season and is a commanding presence as a central defender and adds quality into a position we did not have sufficient depth in last season. Having been with the club in the past it is nice to welcome him back to Dempo SC and our fans should be excited that we have been able to bring back a local Goan player with the qualities of Rowilson”.
Rowilson will report to the club on 1st of July 2014 for pre-season training.
