Kitchee Hopes to Confirm AFC Cup Semi-final Spot with Victory over XM Vissai Ninh Binh on Tuesday

Kitchee Hopes to Confirm AFC Cup Semi-final Spot with Victory over XM Vissai Ninh Binh on Tuesday
Hong Kong league champion Kitchee (HKG) looks to seal its place for the 2014 AFC Cup Semi-final on Tuesday evening against XM Vissai Ninh Binh (VIE) in the 2nd leg of the 2014 AFC Cup Quarter-final. The match will take place in Mongkok Stadium and kick-off time will be at 8:00pm.

Kitchee secured an inspiring 4:2 away victory against XM Vissai Ninh Binh in the 1st leg of the Quarter-final and put itself in the driver’s seat for the return leg. The team was largely in control throughout the first game and players such as striker Juan Belencoso and Ngan Lok-fung played superbly throughout the 90 minutes and left their respective marks on the game, with the two players netting a brace and a goal respectively.

The side also returned from the 1st leg relatively unscathed and should have midfielder Lam Ka-wai and Cheung Kin-fung available for selection in the 2nd leg at home. It remains to be seen whether head coach Jose Molina decides to select the two veterans for Tuesday night’s game but Kitchee looks set to host the Vietnamese visitors with a relatively full-strength squad.

Kitchee’s midfield dynamo Ngan Lok-fung cautions that the team needs to remain totally focused on Tuesday night’s game. “I know we are in a very good position to qualify for the Semi-final with our away win in the 1st leg. However, we can ill-afford to look beyond Tuesday night’s game,” declared the tough-tackling midfielder. “Ninh Binh is a quality side and they have demonstrated how potent their attack can be in the first game, as they have some really dangerous players in midfield and up-front.”
