In a bid to boost their squad for upcoming I-League season,Shillong Lajong have reportedly seized the service of 28 year old Zambian International Kondwani Mtonga on a 6 month loan contract from Zambian Premier League side Zesco United FC.
According to several reports Kondwani Mtonga signs the contract after a successful negotiation which started back in April with I League side Shillong Lajong FC
Kondwani Mtonga ,who represented his country at various occasion including African Nations Cup .He has played 19 fifa international matches for his country in addition to several non Fifa matches.
Back in November 2013,French Ligue one club Souchuax had shown an interest on signing him but unfortunately the deal did not went through.
He was a chunk of Zambian National team which played out a 3-4 loss against Japan in June 6 2014 at a FIFA International Friendly and that was his last game for his country.The Zambian holding midfielder was instrumental in Zambian squad which won 2012 African Cup of Nations
Interestingly he is attentive of Indian conditions as he was played against India in an International friendly back in 2011 at Goa and the match saw convincing 4-0 victory for eventual African champions
As of now Kondwani Mtonga will be the third foreigner for Shillong Lajong as they already have Trinidad and Tobago striker Cornell Glen and North Korean defender Mincho Son who recently got call up for North Korea national team camp ahead of Incheon Asian Games
