Daniel Bidemi, Somide Adelaja, Wasim Raja all found back of thenet as Mohammedan Sporting Club ease past Police AC 3-0 in the first semi-final of Sanhati Gold Cup at Amta, Howrah here on Wednesday (18th February) afternoon, to advance in the final.
After an evenly contested first-half Mohammedan surged ahead in the 57th minute of the match through Daniel Bidemi, who scored from the rebound of his own spot-kick which Black Panthers got following a handball by a Police defender inside the 18 yard box.
Mohammedan doubled the lead 13 minutes later when Somide Adelaja successfully converted another penalty kick following another handball by an Police defender inside the box. Apart from these Mohammedan got a number of chances to increase the lead but somehow failed to convert untill the 92nd minute when Wasim Raja scored the third and final goal for Mohammedan to finish off the match in style.
Daniel Bidemi is adjudged man of the match in back to back matches for brilliant display of allround football.
Mohammedan Sporting Club will face the winner of second semi-final between United SC and Food Corporation of India (FCI) on Saturday (21st February).
