Transfer News: Chelsea and Manchester United look set to go head to head this January for the signature of one of Brazilian football’s hottest prospects - Mosquito.
Seventeen-year-old Thiago da Silva Rodrigues, or Mosquito as he is more commonly known, was one of the star performers for Brazil during this years U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
The talented starlet shone in the early stages of the tournament bagging four goals in five games before Brazil eventually fell at the quarter finals to Mexico.
The striker currently plays for Brazilian club side Atlético Paranaense however a contract dispute between Atlético and his former youth team Vasco da Gama has forced him to miss several games.
Mosquito has apparently caught the eye of David Moyes and Jose Mourinho along other big teams around Europe according to EPSN. No club has yet been able to move on the youngster until he turns eighteen, which conveniently will be during the January transfer window.
Although any move may still be in jeopardy due to the on-going dispute between Atlético and Mosquito’s former club Vasco da Gama, it is believe that Mosquito’s current club would be willing to accept a fee of around £4 million for the talented forward.
Should either Man United or Chelsea eventually land their target it is likely they will end up loaning him out to another club in Europe, as he will be unlikely to gain a UK work permit.
