The quality of training pitches that KFA provided for the clubs to prepare for the federation cup 2014 has caused a serious headache for KFA.They completely failed to provide standard infrastructure for the clubs to prepare for the cup.Foreign players and coaches have already started making fun of Kerala infrastructure through twitter and various other social sites
Even though they could not put the right infrastructure at right time,KFA continued with their promises on building infrastructure for 2017 u17 world cup, which is set to be held in India.
KMI Mather, the president of KFA admitted that all of the issues regarding Fed cup practice pitches have already taken up with the state Government and as India gets the node to host u17 world cup 2017,it is necessary to improve the infrastructure and the Government has already agreed to do whatever that is necessary to make Kerala eligible to host the world cup matches.
According to FIFA guidelines there should be at least four practice pitches in addition to the main venue in order to host mega events like world cup. As of now KFA has identified the grounds among those Maharajas,Ambedkar Stadium,Panampilly nagar ground are currently in pathetic condition.
According to some Kerala news papers KFA has finalised tender and other legal formalities for the renovation of Ambedkar Stadium Kochi. They leased the stadium from GCDA for 15 years. But the fact is that no work started yet at the venue since it has been at least a year after the announcement.
Mather maintained his promise and stated that the work will begin at all of the venue this year itself and KFA reached an agreement with Kerala Government to develop Ambedkar stadium into a world class one!
Lets see what they can and what they will !
