Sanjeev Nagvekar, manager of Goa-India football team, who compete in the Lusofonia Games 2014 to be held in Goa,expressed the high chance of team India winning the Gold Medal as there is no Brazil or Portugal team in the Games.
In an Interview with local newspaper 'Navhind Times',he admitted that in the absence of big teams like Brazil and Portugal there is a realistic chance of winning the gold medal as he finds that team 'India' is equally good as all other team, who competing in the game.
He said that the team is practicing very hard since last 2 months in Tilak maidan and they have a an advantage of Tilak maidan turf as most of their matches going to be held in the same venue.
Nagvekar expressed his satisfaction over the world class facilities made available at the Renovated Tilak maidan and also praised the high quality of natural turf at the playing arena
However he expressed displeasure over the Nivia ball that will be introduced during the Games. He feels as they have been practicing with a different make ball, playing with a different ball during the Games might make them little uncomfortable
The star attraction in the team without doubt is ASD Capetown lad Brandon Fernandes.Goans will have a great chance to watch their star player on the ground. He wants to prove him self and get noticed by National team coach Wim Kovermans. So this is a great chance for him to do so as this is first time that he is playing in India after a long stint with ASD Capetown and various trials at European clubs. As televised matches we also have a chance to watch the talent and to see what made him so special in the country as well as in ASD Capetown
