Royal Wahingdoh juniors holed out narrowly to Shillong Lajong in their away match despite putting up a strong performance in the first half on Tuesday’s U-19 I-League match at Polo Grounds.
Lajong ended the match 2-0 to assure themselves a finals spot with five wins from as many matches.
Earlier, Royal Wahingdoh looked threatening in the first half despite starting off slowly. The attack comprising of Sushil, Loken, and Naoba applied heavy pressure on the Lajong defence but were unable to make the penetration. However, Loken was out with an injury and Lajong were awarded a penalty in the 52nd minute before taking a vital lead. Nim Dorjee Tamang took the shot to beat keeper Kennio.
As the Royals pressed hard for an equaliser, Lajong netted a second goal in the 86th minute. Hardy Nongbri headed in a cross to finally give the Reds a 2-0 victory.
