In a shocking report by the Times of India, the AIFF seems to be openly flaunting the I-League. At the Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Bengaluru FC, already the I-League champions, clinched a win over Sporting Club de Goa. However, raucous celebrations of the club where met by an icy attitude from the AIFF.

For starters, where one would have expected a glittering trophy attractively decorated, only a glossy undecorated trophy was seen. The banality of the prize distribution was also highlighted by deathly silence in the stadium (apparently the sound system was not in place) and the absence of the AIFF President and the CEO of the I league.
One cannot have many doubts about the reason for this rancor from the governing body of Indian football. The opposition of the I league clubs to the upcoming Indian Super League seems to have been met in kind by the AIFF. This kind of treatment is indeed very shocking and detrimental to Indian football. One wonders, if this kind of attitude to the I league, and if the ISL gains its predicted popularity, will the I league still have a future?
