According to Express, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants to sign Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen.

Belgian footballer's future has been the subject of discussion over the last year since he lost his place in the Arsenal starting XI.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has preferred Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny as the two starting centre-backs this season, using Vermaelen very rarely.

Vermaelen's contract is due to expire in the summer of 2015 and he may look to move on.
