Liverpool are chasing Lazio starlet Ogenyi Onazi

According to Mirror, Liverpool are chasing Lazio starlet Ogenyi Onazi as a potential summer signing.

The club is willing to go head-to-head with Spurs in the race to sign Lazio's young defensive midfielder in a bid to boost their squad for next season.

Onazi has been exceptional for the Serie A outfit this season and has been attracting interest of a lot of European clubs such as Liverpool and Spurs.

When the player was asked if he sees himself as a Liverpool player in future, Onazi replied: "Liverpool? They are a huge team and are attractive to any footballer. I could see myself playing for them. I would jump at the chance."

Even though Tim Sherwood's future as Spurs boss beyond the end of this season is highly doubtful, transfer plans are already under-way.

According to the reports, both clubs are keen to tie up a deal for Onazi before this summer's World Cup in Brazil.
