Liverpool want to sign Manchester City defender Micah Richards for £7million.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that Richards could fit in well at Liverpool, but the chances of Man City willing to sell the player to a rival are quite low.

The 25-years old defender is likely to be allowed to leave the club after deciding not to take up a new five-year deal.

Brendan Rodgers also believes Richards would be perfect for his squad as he can play right-back and centre-half and has only one year left on his contract.

Richards also hopes that a fresh start will reignite his career while Liverpool are keen to extend their squad for the Champions League next season.
