The Netherlands national team coach, whose deal ends after the world cup; was the favorite to land as the united manager even before Giggs was made the interim manager. The saga still continues over van Gaal, as reports suggest he could be named as the Manchester united manager by this weekend.
Gaal, 62, who has previously coached clubs like Ajax, AZ Alkmaar, Barcelona and Bayern Munich has a vast experience and has won the league with all four of his clubs. He also has Champions League title which he won during his time with AJAX.
Many people term him to be an ideal successor for Manchester united, due to his attacking tactics which suits the united style of play. Even the Swansea goalkeeper and the member of Netherlands squad believe that his spell in England would be a great success.
It is also to be believed that Ryan Giggs has met Van Gaal yesterday to discuss his role in the new Old Trafford setup. He was seen near Gaal’s home in Noordwijk after which Giggs returned to watch the U-21 Premier league final. Reports also suggest that van Gaal also has contacted Van der Saar, the former number 1 of Manchester united to discuss the role of Goal keeping coach with him.
If he is appointed it would mean the English giant would get their first manager from outside of Britain. United ended their season in 7th place and failed to qualify for European championship for first time since 1989.
