The ALL INDIA FOOTBALL FEDERATION'S technical panel have shortlisted English man Stephen Constantine and New Zealander Ricky Herbert for Indian National team coach post.
The panel led by Baichung Bhutia also decided to reduce the monthly salary of coach from 25000$ to 20000$ by keeping in mind that Indian team needs someone who knows Indian football well not some high profile names.
Stephen Constantine had coached team India from 2002 to 2005 ,under him team India achieved tremendous progress and eventually won LG CUP.And also under him team India almost made it into the last eight of Busan Asian games and team won silver medal at Afro Asian games after victories over Rwanda and Zimbawe ,only losing to Uzebekistan in the final with just 1-0.
He is currently head coach of Rwanda national team ,under him Rwanda national team achieved their best ever FIFA ranking of 68.
53 year old Herbert was helped New Zealand team for reaching 2010 world cup and they end their group stage campaign without a single loss.Under him they moved to 49 from 170 in FIFA ranking.He last coached Northeast United FC in just concluded Indian Super League and it made him to get aware of Indian condition,and eventually gets preference for India job shortlist.
It has been learned that Ashley Westwood and Trever James Morgan were the part of short list.However lack of International experience made them to omit from the list.
With the u17 world cup is approaching,the panel have also shortlisted Two Germans Nicolai Adam and Bernard Lippert for India youth job.
It is noted that the committee also recommended Scotland's Scott O'Donell to fill the void of Technical directer role,which left b y Dutch Man Rob Ban
Constantine must get the chance.He is well aware of Indian Football condition.
