DEN Networks-owned Delhi Dynamos FC the football club representing Delhi in the Hero Indian Super league have won the inaugural Fair Play Award for the first edition. One of the key values of the club is to play clean ethical football and the team did exactly that. Delhi Dynamos played the beautiful game by the letter of the law and won the respect and love of the fans and their fellow peers.
The Men in Orange, who practiced for a clean and efficient way of playing were led by example in Anwar Ali, who has represented India internationally many times, displayed the team’s commitment to fair play during their last league match against Chennai. Anwar kicked the ball out of play and let go of a great chance to score as one of the players from Chennai was lying in pain on the field unnoticed by the referee. And this came at a time when Delhi was trailing by 2 goals in a game they had to win to reach the semis. On being asked why he did it, the senior Indian National team player said “Our philosophy as a team was to play an attractive game, channelize our aggression into our moves, but always keep it clean. We wanted to win the right way.”
Delhi Dynamos marquee player Alessandro del Piero, received the award along with Mr. Sameer Manchanda the owner of the club.
Sameer Manchanda, CMD, DEN Networks & Owner of the Team said “The Delhi Dynamos FC’s founding value is to play football the way it is supposed to be played. The team played the beautiful game by the book, we are happy that our efforts in the direction towards a fair game of football have been recognized and appreciated”
Delhi Dynamos finished fifth on the Indian Super League table, narrowly missing out on the playoffs by a single point.
The campaign saw the Dynamos picking up 4 wins, including two games in which they scored 4 goals each.
Delhi Dynamos stand for practising and promoting a free-flowing, entertaining brand of football, in victory or defeat.
