Sunil Chetri voted as AIFF player of the year

Indian National football team captain Sunil Chetri has been selected as the AIFF Player of the year 2014.The desicion made on the basis of votes from I-League coaches.While Manipur player Bala Devi declared as the AIFF Women's player of the year 2014.

This is Chhetri's 4th AIFF player of the year award and 3rd in last 4 year.He won the award in 2007,2011,2013 and 2014.Mean while he has overtook the record of IM Vijaya's three time winning streak.IM Vijaya won it in the years 1992,1997 and 2000.

Sunil Chhetri finished as the joint top scorer of last I-League with 14 goals and also highest Indian scorer as well.He holds the record of ever top scorer for team India at International level with 45 goals as per AIFF records.

Bala Devi scored 16 goals in 2014 and helped team India to retain SAFF women's cup.24 year old Bala Devi to be presented RS 1 Lakh while Chhetri to be richer by 2 lakh.

AIFF also chose Sandesh Jinghan as the emerging player of the year award for his tremendous work rate in Just concluded Hero Indian Super League for Kerala Blasters.

Western India Football Association has been selected for the award of best grass root programme and ONGC got the award of longtime contribution to Indian Football.
