BC Rangers will take on South China on Wednesday afternoon for a rare mid-week, day-time league fixture. The match will kick-off at 4:00pm in Mongkok Stadium.
BC Rangers currently sits on the 8th spot in the league table and looks set to make one late-push to the upper echelon in the league standing. The side has shown ambitions even late in the season by adding Ivan Zarandona, Chao Pengfei, and Siu Leong, providing some tactical flexibility for Head Coach Ricardo Rambo. Tales Schutz, who is due to return from his suspension in the FA Cup, should provide BC Rangers with sufficient goal-scoring threat alongside local marksmen Lam Ho-hei and Tommy Chuck.
Tommy Chuck, lightning-quick BC Rangers forward, revealed he and his teammates are all gearing up to chase one of the playoff positions. “Crashing out against Kitchee in the FA Cup semi-final last weekend was tough to take and it might affect our morale somewhat for this game,” Chuck admitted. “But we still believe that we can finish high and obtain a playoff spot, as the team is fully united to fight for this goal.”
At the time of writing, South China finds itself occupying the 3rd position in the league standing. The Caroliners still have games on hand as they aim to finish the season in the highest possible league position. There have been signs that the team is slowly rounding into form with their comfortable knock-out victory against Malaysian side Kelantan in the AFC Cup group match. Without doubt, Head Coach Yeung Ching-kwong will hope for more of the same when they take on BC Rangers in the mid-week battle.
South China midfielder Michael Luk made it known that the Caroliners have playoff qualification clearly at their sights. “We are all aiming for the playoffs at this point as we will be really focused for the last few games in order to reach our goal,” Luk said. “We are full of confidence and while it has been disappointing to get knocked out of the AFC Cup, we will try to take some positives from the remaining league games.”
