RedMR HK First Division League – BC Rangers 2:1 South China

RedMR HK First Division League – BC Rangers 2:1 South China

BC Rangers hosted South China on Wednesday afternoon for a rare midweek day-time league fixture. Two-goals from Miroslav Saric in each half were all BC Rangers needed to defeat South China in a 2:1 victory.

BC Rangers took a surprising lead early in the game. On the 2nd minute, Lam Hok-hei received the ball on the right-flank before whipping a cross into the South China box. Miroslav Saric showed great awareness by getting to the ball first and slotted it to the back of the South China net. The score was now 1:0.

South China had a half-decent chance on the 7th minute when Joao Pereira’s free-kick forced BC Rangers keeper Siu Leong to alertly punch away the ball.

Tales Schutz had a great chance to double the lead for BC Rangers on the 10th minute, when the Brazilian dodged a tackle outside the South China box before firing a rocket towards goal. Unfortunately, South China keeper Leung Hing-kit managed to dish out an adequate save.

BC Rangers had another chance on the 27th minute when Tommy Chuck motored down the right-flank and pulled the trigger. Unfortunately, the youngster could only witness his shot deflected wide by a South China defender.

Joao Pereira almost tied the game for South China on the 40th minute when the Brazilian schemer beat his marker and fired a tight-angle thunder bolt that failed to hit the target.

Both sides started off the second-half in a much slower pace. On the 62nd minute, Chan Siu-ki’s cross from the right-flank was one-timed by a surging Chak Ting-fung. It was a great shot by the South China full-back but BC Rangers keeper Siu Leong managed to pave the ball away.

However, South China was not to be denied and drew level on the 64th minute when Andrew Barisic broke behind the BC Rangers defense and slotted the ball home. The score was now 1:1.

BC Rangers went in front again on the 75th minute when Law Hiu-chung’s cross from the right-flank picked out an unmark Miroslav Saric in front of the South China goal. The Croatian easily leapt high and headed the ball into the South China net. The score was now 2:1 for BC Rangers.

The score stood towards the final whistle as BC Rangers came out victorious against South China in a 2:1 home win.
